Description
Even indoors, drafty rooms or air conditioning can adversely affect your exotic bird’s health. Protect your bird and keep him or her warm with the K&H Thermo-Perch heated bird perch. It mounts easily to wire bird cages and is constructed of sturdy plastic that resists bites and scratches.
The Thermo-Perch features internal thermostats that heat to the ideal temperature for exotic birds. The warmth provided by this heated bird perch helps provide a stable, comfortable environment.
We designed the Thermo-Perch with an irregular shape, which reduces pressure sores and foot cramps. Now your bird can stay warm and enjoy the orthopedic benefits of this product’s ingenious design.
Also includes our 12 volt Perch Adapter power supply.
Small size uses 3.5 watts
Medium size uses 5 watts

Cleaning Instructions
The Thermo-Perch may be cleaned with a damp cloth or paper towel. DO NOT immerse in water.
If disinfecting is required, lightly mist the Thermo-Perch with disinfecting solution and wipe dry. Take care not to mist the area where the cord enters the perch.
Usage
The Thermo-Perch is not intended to be the only perch in a cage. Your bird will choose when it needs warmth, and there should always be at least one other non-heated perch to use.
Testing Your Thermo-Perch
You can test the Thermo-Perch by placing it between two pillows for about 20 minutes. Then feel the perch. It should be warm, not hot.
Is the temperature of the Thermo-Perch adjustable?
While not adjustable, the temperature of the Thermo-Perch varies from one end to the other. This allows birds to choose an area that feels comfortable to them.
Is it ok to apply a single layer of medical sticking plaster such as elastoplast to the heated perch for added grip?
Our perches are designed to be used as they are and it is not safe to wrap material around them. The plastic has a textured faux woodgrain pattern that gives the Thermo-Perch added grip. With the regular Thermo-Perch, generally there is an adjustment period, especially with small birds. They may fall off a few times at first, but they learn to use the grooves in the perch in a short period of time.
My new Thermo-Perch feels rather hot. Is this normal?
When the Thermo-Perch is first plugged in, it will get warmer than normal. The thermostat will regulate itself and cool down to a normal temperature within an hour or two. The temperature along the perch will range anywhere from approximately 99°F to 108°F. The end closest to the cage will feel warmer than the other end.
Also, many people believe the perches are too warm because they don’t realize birds have a normal body temperature of 106°F and need more heat than humans who have a body temperature of 98.6°F.
Can the Thermo-Perch be used outside?
If you make sure the product is protected from the weather, you could use it outside.
How long is the cord?
The cord is 6.5 feet long.
Can I use an extension cord with this product?
MET requires that all manufacturers put the extension cord statement “Do not use with extension cord” on every item that is MET listed by UL 499 standards. This is because they cannot test every extension cord on the market in conjunction with our products for safety. Also, MET suggests that an extension cord is not recommended as a permanent fixture and should only be a temporary solution when using any electrical product.
For more information on MET safety testing, please visit their website at www.metlabs.com.
How long can a heated product be plugged in?
MET Safety Laboratories suggests unplugging the bed if you leave your home on an extended vacation, as they do with any electrical appliance. Otherwise, it is designed for 24/7 operation and you can leave it plugged in all day. This item has been certified by MET labs to adhere to strict electrical safety standards. Is there an off/on switch?
There is not an off/on switch. The perch is always on when plugged in.
