Vege-leather, or vegetable tanned leather is 100% bird safe.  The tanning process uses no harmful chemicals and leaves the leather soft, supple, and loads of fun to chew on!  It's used on many toys and sometimes as a toy all by itself.  Thin strips of this leather are a great platform for making your own toys by stringing it through softwood blocks.
